Wheat procurement misses target in Shahkot

SHAHKOT 4 MAY

 The total purchase of wheat grain by the state government agencies from farmers on Monday reached 4.50111.5 lakhs quintals which is less than fixed target of 4.52522 lakhs quintals in grain markets under the jurisdiction of Shahkot committee.

Committee secretary Tejindar Kumar said this purchase is less than 0.53 percent compared to last year’s purchase with the poor wheat crop.

He said that that average per acre yield have decreased from 23 -25 quintals last year to 16-18 quintal this year.
