Villager arrested for illegal sand mining

SHAHKOT 28 OCTOBER

 The Shahkot police have arrested a villager for illegal sand mining.

Investigating officer (IO) Baljit Singh said that the accused has been identified as Mangal Singh, son of Dalawar Singh a resident of Rame village.

IO said the accused was indulging in illegal mining from the River Sutlej and was arrested with a tractor trolley loaded with illegal sand.

IO said a case under section 21 of the Punjab Mining Act, section 303 (theft) of the BNS, and section 15 of the Environment Act 1986 has been registered against the accused.
