Farmer arrested for burning paddy stubble

SHAHKOT   1 JULY

 The Shahkot police have arrested a farmer on the charge of burning paddy stubble fields.

Investigating Officer (IO)Parjindar Kaur said that the accused has been identified as

Darshan Singh son of Sampuran Singh a resident of Nangal Ambian village.

IO said the concerned nodal officers had sent their reports to the police, which were verified and examined at the place of occurrence.

IO stated that the accused had set fire to their paddy stubble fields, violating the government order in this regard, and polluted the atmosphere.

A case under section 223(disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the BNS was registered against the accused on November 11, 2025
