Two women among six booked for cheating, fraud, criminal conspiracy

The Mehatpur police have booked six persons including two women on charges of cheating, fraud and criminal conspiracy.

Investigating officer (IO) Davindar Singh said that the accused have been identified as Sukhbir Singh alias Paras son of Ranjit Singh a resident of sector 29- B, Chandigarh  his wife Puja ,Ramandeep Singh alias Raman son of Harbhajan Singh resident of Narang Pur Kular village under Nakodar Sadar police station and his wife Ramandeep Kaur ,and brother Hardeep Singh and their one unidentified accomplice .

Gurpreet Singh a resident of Mohalla Rasul Pur Mehat Pur complained to the Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police that the accused were not owner of any property but under conspiracy prepared a fake power of attorney and gained his confidence and cheated him of Rs 3.58 crores

IO said that a case under sections 419(punishment for cheating by personation), 420(cheating), 406(breach of trust) 467,468,471(fraud) and 120-(criminal conspiracy) of the IPC (as incident occurred in 2023) has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and further investigations are on.
