Villager arrested for using caste remark

The Lohian Khas police have arrested a villager for using cast remarks and assault.

Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP) Onkar Singh Brar  said the accused have been identified as Baljit Singh alias Nika son of Sukhraj Singh a resident of Basti Kang Kalan village.

Gurpreet Daudhar alias Yama, a resident of the same village, had complained to the police that he was sitting in his house on May 27 discussing a village issue when the accused Harbhajan Singh came and requested him to come to his house under a conspiracy where the other two accused were already sitting.

The complainant said all the accused said they do not recognise any panchayat and started beating him and said that” Chuhrre “Sarpanch like you are roaming here and there.

DSP said a case under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt and 3(5) (committing crime with common intention 0 and section 3(1) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act 1989 was registered against the accused.
