Couple arrested for dowry harassment

LOHIAN KHAS, 20 APRIL 

 The Lohian Khas police have arrested a couple for dowry harassment

Investigating officer (IO) Harmindar Singh said that the accused have been identified as Satnam Singh,a resident of Bank Colony, Basti Bawa Khel, Jalandhar and his wife Balwindar Kaur.

Sandeep Kaur a resident of Mundi Kasu village had complained to the Senior Superintendent of Police Jalandhar (rural) that her marriage was solemnised with Amandeep Singh son of Satnam Singh in February,2024 and her in-law’s   started harassing her for bringing more dowry ,threatened and forced her to leave house.

IO said that a case under section 406 (breach of trust) and 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) 506(criminal intimidation )354-A (sexual harassment) of the IPC was registered against the accused after an inquiry and others.
