Three travel agents booked for duping woman of Rs.18 lakhs

The Lohian Khas police have booked three travel agents for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 18 lakhs on the pretext of sending her daughter abroad.
Station House Officer (SHO) Labh Singh said that the accused had been identified as Satwindar Singh and Gurpiar Singh, residents of Basti Mithu, Jalandhar, and Jaitindar Singh, a resident of Raja Sansi village, Amritsar
Jasbeer Singh, a resident of Sidhu Pur village, complained to the Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that she had paid Rs 18 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her daughter’s migration abroad. However, neither was she sent abroad, nor did she get the money back.
SHO said a case under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act 2014 has been registered against the accused after an inquiry, and further investigation was in progress.
