Absconding under trial arrested

NAKODAR 7 AUGUST

 The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested an undertrial who had escaped from police custody in the court complex while being taken to judicial custody.

Investigating Officer (IO) Buta Ram said that the accused has been identified as Sahil son of Som Nath a resident of Umre Wal Billa village under Mehat Pur police station.

IO said that the accused was arrested on June 23 under the NDPS Act by Mehat Pur police and was produced in the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class Mehma Bhullar who had ordered to send the accused to judicial custody.

IO said when he was being taken to judicial custody, the accused attacked the police party and fled away with handcuffs

IO said that a case under sections 262(Resistance or obstruction to lawful by a person to his lawful apprehension), 132 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty )221(obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), and 121 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the BNS was registered against the accused.
