Family trio arrested for abetting suicide

NURMAHAL 21 JULY 

The Nurmahal police have arrested three members of a family on the charges of abetting suicide, criminal conspiracy.

Investigating officer (IO)Tirath Ram said that the accused have been identified as Amarjit a resident of Modal Town, Nurmahal, his wife Jagiro, and son Balwindar Kumar.

 

Jai Chand, a resident of Buta Mandi, Jalandhar complained to the police that his sister Sarabjit Kaur ‘s (36) marriage was solemnised with the accused Balwindar Kumar in 2012.

The complainant said that the accused Balwindar has extra-marital relations and his sister opposed this act of her husband, who, along with his father and mother, conspired and started harassing his sister and forced her to end his life, who committed suicide on July 20 by hanging herself.

Jai Chand said the accused forced his sister to end her life and action should be taken against them.

IO said a case under sections 108(abetting suicide),238(causing disappearance of evidence) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS has been registered against

the accused and their accomplice Neelo of Nurmahal who is absconding, and raids are being conducted to nab her. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after the post-mortem.
