Couple arrested for duping Shahkot woman of Rs 31.50 lakhs

The Shahkot police have arrested a couple on the charge of duping a Shahkot woman on the pretext of helping his relatives to join the police service

Shahkot station house officer (SHO) Aman Sainni said the accused have been identified as Anmol Rattan, son of Baljit Singh, residing at house number 506, ward no 20, Mohalla Dalichi, Sarhand in Fateh Garh Sahib and his wife Mandeep Kaur.

Raveen Kaur, daughter of Balbir Singh, a resident of Bau Pur Bet village, had complained to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar(rural) that the accused duped her of Rs 31.50 lakhs on the pretext of helping her cousin sister and brother to join the police

service.

SHO said Mandeep Kaur, wife of the accused, then living at Bau Pur village, had also filed a complaint against her husband.

SHO said a case under sections 316 (2) (criminal breach of trust), 318(4) (cheating), and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), of the BNS was registered against the accused who was declared a proclaimed offender on February 2, 2026.
