JALANDHAR 12 MAY

Under the special campaign launched by Punjab Police for the safety of citizens and protection of their property, Jalandhar Rural Police has achieved another significant success.

Addressing the media, Harvinder Singh Virk, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, stated  the District Sanjh Kendra and CIA Staff teams successfully recovered 120 more lost mobile phones through continuous technical investigation and cyber tracking. These recovered phones were subsequently returned to their rightful owners.

SSP informed that complaints regarding lost mobile phones are registered at Sanjh Kendras and uploaded on the CEIR Portal (Central Equipment Identity Register). Through this portal, the traceability of lost mobile phones is monitored, and after detailed data analysis, the information is shared with the concerned police stations and CIA Staff, thereby facilitating the recovery process. During this special drive, under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Dalwinder Singh, In charge District Sanjh Kendra, and Inspector Pushap Bali, In charge CIA Staff, police teams worked tirelessly day and night to recover 120 mobile phones worth approximately ₹25 lakhs. He further stated that with this latest recovery, the total number of recovered mobile phones has now reached 419. The successful return of these valuable mobile phones has further strengthened public trust and confidence in Jalandhar Rural Police.

SSP emphasized that mobile phones have become an essential part of everyday life, containing personal information, photographs, banking details, and other important data. He appealed to the public that in case any mobile phone is lost or stolen, the matter should immediately be reported to the police. He added that lost mobile phones can sometimes be misused by anti-social elements for criminal activities or cybercrimes. Timely reporting not only assists in the recovery of the mobile phone but also helps prevent any possible misuse. Reiterating Punjab Police’s commitment, he stated that the department remains fully dedicated to ensuring public safety, protecting citizens’ property, and preventing cybercrimes. Such operations will continue in the future as well.
