Wheat procurement misses target in Nurmahal

NURMAHAL 8 MAY

 The total purchase of wheat grain by the state government agencies from farmers was 4.50593 lakhs quintals, which is less than the fixed target of 4.76504 lakhs quintals in grain markets under the jurisdiction of the Nurmahal committee in this procurement session, which ended on May 5 .

Committee secretary Sukhjindar Singh said this purchase is less than compared to last year’s purchase due to the poor wheat crop.

He said that the average per-acre yield has decreased from 23 -25 quintals last year to 16-18 quintals this year.
