Gangster arrested for extortion

NAKODAR 28 MARCH 

The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a gangster on charges of extortion.

Station House Officer (SHO) Dilbag Singh said that the accused has been identified as Tirath Singh, son of Balwinder Singh, resident of Bahadar Pur village under Bilga station.

The victim has complained to the police that the accused has demanded Rs 2 crores from her and threatened to kill her in case of failure to pay the money.

SHO said a case under sections 308(5) (extortion by putting any person in fear of death or of grievous hurt), and 3(5) (committing crime with common intention) of the BNS was registered against the accused on March 21.
