Nakodar travel agent booked for duping woman of Rs. 27 lakhs

NAKODAR 20 JULY 

The Nakodar City has booked a travel agent, on charges of allegedly duping a Nakodar village woman resident of Rs 27 lakh on the pretext of sending her abroad.

Investigating Officer (IO) Subash Chandar Harwindar Singh said that the accused has been identified as Harpreet Singh son of Surindar Singh a resident of Guru Teg Bahadar Nagar Nakodar.

Ravendar daughter of Surindar Kumar Mallian Khurd  Wal village, complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that she had paid Rs 27 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her migration to Canada . However, neither did the accused send her a abroad, nor did they return the money.

IO said a case under sections 406 (l breach of trust), 420 (cheating) of the IPC has been registered against the accused after an inquiry, and further investigation was in progress.
