Couple among three booked for cheating using caste   remarks

The Mehat Pur police have booked a couple and a dead writer on charges of cheating and using caste remarks.

Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Onkar Singh Brar, who is the investigating officer in this case said the accused have been identified as Ramdeep Singh son of Harbhajan Singh, a resident of Naurang Pur village under Shahkot, and presently living in Garden colony, Nakodar; his wife, Mandeep Kaur; and Rannjit Singh Ranna son of Darshan Singh deed writer and resident of Kular village.

Ashwani Kumar a resident of Khuram Pur village in Mehat Pur, complained to the police that the accused cheated him of RS 5 Lakhs on the pretext of installing a solar system, and when he demanded back his money, Ramdeep Singh and Rannjit Singh abused him and used caste remarks against him.

DSP said a case under section 316(2)( criminal breach of trust), 318(4)(cheating )of the BNS and sections 3(1)( r) 3(1)(s) of the ST/SC Act has been registered against the accused.
