Three of family    booked in dowry harassment case

SHAHKOT. 30 JULY 

 The Shahkot police have booked three members of a family in a dowry harassment case.

Investigating Officer (IO) Kashmir Singh said that the accused have been identified as Jugraj Singh a resident of Mand Drisha village under Kabir Pur police station Kapurthala, his father Balvir Singh, and mother Gurmit Kaur.

Rajvir Kaur daughter Kala Singh of Darshan Singh a resident of Rame village had filed a complaint in June 2023 to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar (SSP) (rural), that her in-laws were harassing her and demanding more and more dowry since her marriage and assaulted and threw her out from house.

IO said a case under section 406(breach of trust) and 498-A (husband or relative of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused after an inquiry. No arrests have been made.
