‘Ek Din DC/CP De Sang’:

Punjab Government gives wings to  dreams of  school students

JALANDHAR 26 MAY

The Punjab Government has launched the Punjab Sikhiya Kranti to modernize government school education.

In this endeavour, a special initiative called “Ek Din DC/CP De Sang” has been introduced to give wings to the dreams of government school students. As part of this initiative, two groups of the district’s top female students spent a day with Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur.

During this time, they learned about the duties performed by IAS and IPS officers and got firsthand exposure to government welfare schemes and programs. They also closely observed office work, learning about the functioning of different departments, the inspection process at the DC office, and the police commissioner explained in detail the security arrangements, community policing, and police work.

Three top district female students from the 12th class — Madhavi Salaria, Shakshi, and Amanpreet Kaur — spent their time with Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal. These talented government school students scored 99%, 98.60%, and 98.40% marks respectively in the nonmedical stream.

In the morning, Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal warmly welcomed them to his office and engaged in a lively conversation. He also took them on a tour of the Service Center and the Registrar’s office, providing detailed information about the ongoing schemes.

At the Sub-Registrar Office Jalandhar-1, they were briefed on the registration process. Additionally, a meeting was held with these outstanding students and other officials to discuss flood prevention in the district. Later, Dr. Aggarwal had lunch with the students. In the evening, 38 outstanding students of the district were honoured, including 13 from the 10th class and 25 from the 12th class.

Furthermore, thanks to this unique initiative of the Punjab Government, three 10th-class district topper female students — Preeti Kumari (97.85%), Navneet Kaur (97.54%), and Neelu Kumari (97.54%) — spent their day with Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur. The Police Commissioner warmly welcomed them and had a conversation before taking them on a tour of various branches.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur said that this special initiative “Ek Din DC/CP De Sang” launched by the Punjab Government will prove very useful for students, as spending a whole day with the DC and CP provides insights into various functions, inspiring students to aim high in their careers. They encouraged students to always dream big and work hard to achieve those dreams.
