Three criminals arrested, eleven booked for running illegal de-addiction centers, cheating   

SHAHKOT 14 MAY 

The Shahkot police have arrested three criminals and booked eleven others on charges of running illegal de-addiction drug centers and cheating.

Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Onkar Singh Brar said that the arrested criminals have been identified as Kanchan, son of Balvir Singh, a resident of Sukhdev Nagar, Hoshiar Pur, Gurjit Singh, son of Buta Singh, a resident of Chak Vendal village under Nakodar Sadar police station and Karamjit Singh alias Kamma, son of Sarwann Singh, a resident of Bhullar village in Taran Tarn district

DSP said the accused ran illegal de-addiction centers at Dhando Wal village and Bajwa Kalan and rescued 76 victims kept in captivity. He said that the Dhando Wal Centre was being run by the Baba Deep Singh Welfare Society.

 

DSP said the victims were subjected to inhuman torture, and the accused were cheating innocent people.

Onkar Singh Brar said action was taken against illegal centres under the Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign and cases under sections 318(4)(cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property ), 127(4) (wrongful confinement for ten or more days ) 223(disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant ), and 61(2)(criminal conspiracy) of the BNS has been registered against the accused.DSP said booked accused have been booked identified as Inderjit Singh president, son of Piara Singh, Harpreet Singh, vice president, and Arwindar Singh, General Secretary, Mandeep Singh, stage secretary, Sharanjit Singh, cashier, Rohit Sidhu joint secretary, and Jagmindar Singh, press secretary of the Baba Deep Singh Welfare Society. Dhando Wal village and unidentified Kothi owner and Gurwindar Singh, son of Shingara Singh, and resident of Kot Esse Khan in Moga, Jagdeep Singh, son of Raju, a resident of Dosanjh village in Moga, and Gurdeep Singh Bajwa, son of Gurdit Singh, a resident of Bajwa Kalan village.
