Four of the family booked for cheating, conspiracy

The Bilga police have booked four members of the family on the charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy.

Investigating officer (IO) Satpal said that the accused have been identified as Jaswant Singh a resident of Islam Ganj, Ludhiana, his wife Jaspreet Kaur, and sons Lovely Singh and Sajjan Singh.

 Kulwinder Singh a resident of Khokhe Wal village complained to Jalandhar(rural) Senior Superintendent of Police that the accused promised to marry his daughter and received Rs 8 Lakhs Rs (4.60 Lakhs Indian currency and Canadian $ 5000) and forced him to spend Rs 2 Lakhs on engagement ceremony and demanded a car in dowry but refused to marry his daughter after three years.

IO said a case under sections 406(breach of trust),420(cheating ) 120-B(criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal Code and section 4 of the Dowry Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
